Key Features
- Compared to ordinary fiber filter felts, nomex aramid felt has the following advantages:
- Meager shrinkage rate in high-temperature environments, nomex needle felt maintaining a 1% shrinkage rate even after 1000 hours of use at 250°C.
- Fire resistance: It begins to decompose at 400°C, with a limiting oxygen index (LOI) of 30, and does not contribute to combustion even in self-ignition conditions.
It can work continuously below 200°C, with an instantaneous temperature of 250 degrees Celsius. - Excellent resistance to acid and alkali corrosion.
Applications
1. Asphalt Mixing Plants
Nomex is one of the most commonly used filter materials in asphalt mixing plants because of:
High-temperature resistance, good dust release, resistance to hydrocarbon fumes
It ensures stable performance in baghouses exposed to hot, oily, and sticky dust.
2. Cement Industry
Used in high-temperature sections such as:
Kiln inlet and outlet dust collectors, clinker coolers, raw mill and coal mill systems.
Nomex provides long service life under fluctuating temperatures and abrasive dust.
3. Steel & Metallurgical Industry
Applied in filtration of:
Furnace emissions, sintering and smelting fumes, hot metal dust
Nomex retains strength and filtration efficiency in oxidative and dusty environments.
4. Chemical & Petrochemical Industry
Ideal for high-temperature gas filtration involving:
Chemical reactors, polymer processing, catalyst recovery, and organic vapor emissions
Its chemical stability makes it suitable for certain acidic and solvent environments.
5. Coal-Fired & Biomass Power Plants
Used in:
Boiler exhaust filtration, back-end dust collectors, eSP retrofit systems
Nomex handles long-term exposure to hot flue gases containing SO₂, NOx, and particulates.
6. Tobacco Industry
Used in tobacco drying and processing lines where high-temperature, clean air is required.
7. Glass, Ceramics & Kilns
Nomex remains stable during continuous heating cycles inside:
Ceramic kilns, glass production, brick and tile manufacturing
8. Food Drying & Industrial Ovens
Nomex is suitable for clean hot-air filtration in:
Food processing dryers, industrial baking ovens, spray dryers
Especially where strict temperature demands are required.
